As the calendar creeps towards January 2018, firms throughout the financial services industry continue to eye the passage of the long-awaited MiFID II regulations from coming into effect. Ahead of this widespread transition, ResearchPool, a digital platform for investment research, has rolled out its own MiFID II solution tailored to help venues better prepare for and operate in a newly regulated marketplace.

For its part, ResearchPool’s newly designed solution caters to investment firms, helping them better reconcile any transition and challenges under the new MiFID II regulations. Furthermore, this will include a focus on managing budgets, spending, overseeing the consumption and evaluation of research, which the group has tapped Tool for Research Usage and Evaluation (TRUE). TRUE is marketed as a proprietary solution to also help enable investment firms to better manage and control their research spending and usage of investment strategies, with regards to a newly defined regulatory playing field.
All Eyes on January
MiFID II regulations will have a profound effect on the financial services industry, which will include updating in-house operation and infrastructures to clearing regimes and other forms of execution. Ahead of January 2018, this has led to a growing demand in turn for technology and solutions providers to develop new tools and frameworks that are better adapt to new regulatory regime.
In addition, TRUE is fully compliant with MiFID II regulations and operates as a cloud-compatible, single point to manage budgets and spending, funded by P&L and Research Payment Accounts (RPAs). This is important as the new solution can also help shore up any gaps of functionality for legacy systems, whereby providing more streamlined tracking for research spending, usage and ratings, which can be purchased through the ResearchPool marketplace.
TRUE also builds on ResearchPool’s existing services suite, which presently includes a comprehensive marketplace for all types of research, touching on multiple asset classes and segments – this includes equities, fixed income, credit, SRI, and macro.
